The Saga begins.....in the mists of time.......!

Punctilio Model Spot Ltd. was started in 1972 by brothers Dennis and Dave Nixon, in Hinckley, Leicestershire, England.  Several years earlier, Dennis, using his skills as a Cabinet Maker, started to make wooden propellers for himself and Dave - a British Control Line team member and national champion, and the famous Punctilio Propellers was born.  (The name Punctilio, before you ask, comes from the word 'Punctilious', meaning precise and accurate.)

In 1988, they were joined by Professional Modelmaker Gordon Upton who oversaw the shop expansion and bringing specialist knowledge of scale modelling in both radio and static fields.  He also introduced a wide range of scale aircraft modelling accessories made by the Russian company NeOmega Resin.

Dennis retired in 1995 and moved to Norfolk to grow chickens, goats etc in his little piece of England, but he continues regular contact.

Dave runs our sister manufacturing company, Punctilio Products.  Here we have extensive facilities for quality vacuum forming and plastic injection moulding, manufacturing such items as model aircraft canopies, widely considered to be some of the best available, and the HFM Marine range of kits.  The wood propeller side of the business was sold in 1995 to Balsacraft Ltd. We have recently been joined by Justin Odell who is the former UK Club-20 National Champion and has represented the UK internationally. There is little he does not know about R/C flying!

Gordon moved on in early 2005 to take up a position of UK & Ireland Representative for Multiplex Modellsport GmbH & Co.KG. but can be found there on Mondays!

If you are lucky enough to be able to visit, we are very easy to find.

We are situated on the edge of Hinckley town centre at the entrance to the town bus station.  To find Hinckley, the best road junction to head for is the M69/A5 exit.  We are just 2 miles from there on the B590.  By rail, we are just 5 mins. walk from Hinckley station.
