This class of Motor Fishing Vessel was one of four sizes of wooden boats originating from the directive issued to the Director of Naval Construction in 1942 to prepare a design of small craft to carry out numerous duties including conveyance of personell and stores etc.  They could be converted to fishing with minimal fuss.
