The features in detail

The latest Synthesizer RF technology

The COCKPIT SX transmitter is equipped with the latest leading edge Synthesizer RF technology, eliminating plug-in crystals for selecting the RF spot frequency. Simply call up the appropriate menu and select the channel you wish to use. You can forget, forever, the tiresome task of swapping crystals, as well as the expense of purchasing a range of plug-in crystals.

Available channels / frequencies are as follows*:

35 MHz version (A- and B-band)

Ch 255 (34.950 MHz) … Ch 260 (35.000 MHz) Ch 61 (35.010 MHz) … Ch 80 (35.200 MHz)
Ch 281 (35.210 MHz) … Ch 293 (35.330 MHz) Ch 182 (35.820 MHz) … Ch 191 (35.910 MHz)

40 / 41 MHz version

Ch 41 (40.575 MHz) … Ch 59 (40.785 MHz) Ch 81 (40.815 MHz) … Ch 92 (40.985 MHz)
Ch 400 (41.000 MHz) … Ch 420 (41.200 MHz)

Optional Channel-Check PLUS power-on guard system

A Channel-Check Plus module is available as an optional extra. When you switch the transmitter on, Channel-Check tests the set RF channel; if it detects that the channel is already in use, it alerts the user and - in the interests of safety - prevents the transmitter radiating an RF signal. This avoids crashes caused by channel clashes (two transmitters on one frequency), and constitutes a real step forward in model sport safety. The Channel-Check PLUS module can also be used to check all channels on its frequency band (Scan function). Channels in use are displayed with an indication of field strength.

Eight possible control modes

In addition to the standard stick modes 1 to 4 (throttle right / throttle left, …) the transmitter offers modes 5 to 8. In these modes the throttle and spoiler controls are interchanged (spoilers on the stick, throttle on the right-hand slider); many electric glider pilots prefer these arrangements.

Throttle check

When you switch the transmitter on, this feature checks that the throttle control (stick or switch) is at the idle / stop position. This helps to prevent the motor bursting into life when the receiving system is switched on, and protects the user from unpleasant surprises and injury hazards.

Flight phase switching

Many models can be fine-tuned for efficient flying in different regimes, and the best way of effecting this is to set up switchable flight phases. For fixed-wing models the transmitter offers a total of three flight phases (e.g. NORMAL, THERMAL, SPEED), whilst four phases (e.g. HOVER, CRUISE, AEROBATICS and AUTO-ROTATION) are available for helicopters. Each flight phase features its own trim memory.

Numerous additional parameters can also be set individually for each flight phase (e.g. transmitter control travels, differential, wing camber, collective pitch / throttle curve, tail rotor compensation, gyro gain, etc), and the transition time period from one flight phase to the next can be varied. Setting up the different phases is made easier by the “Copy flight phase” function.

Transmitter battery monitor

An audible alarm alerts you when the battery voltage falls below the set (user-variable) warning threshold.

Language switching

The screen texts can be displayed in English or German.

Trainer mode

In its standard form the COCKPIT SX can be used either as Teacher or Pupil transmitter for Trainer mode operations. The Pupil or Teacher transmitter can be any MULTIPLEX transmitter fitted with a Trainer socket. The COCKPIT SX also offers a selective Trainer mode: this allows the tutor to transfer all channels to the pupil or just individual control functions, according to the skill level of the person who is learning.

Dual Rate and Expo

for three axis (aileron, elevator, rudder)

Servo travels, direction of rotation, centre

separately variable for all servos

Three free mixers per model memory

A maximum of three free mixers can be set up to implement mixed functions that are not provided as standard. Any switch can also be assigned to switch the mixers on and off. The mixer input values are set using a 3-point curve.

Convenient model memory management

  • Twelve model memories

  • Memory / model name (unrestricted, up to six characters)

  • Copy model memory

  • Erase model memory

  Three timers

Timer 1 mm:ss  selectable start / stop switch, alarm function
Timer 2 mm:ss   selectable start / stop switch
Timer 3 hh:mm transmitter operating hours timer

Functions for fixed-wing models

  • Combi-switch - Optional aileron  > rudder, or rudder > aileron

  • V-tail mixer - for models with V-tail

  • DELTA mixer - for deltas and flying wings

  • Comprehensive mixers for model gliders with two flaps and four flaps

  • Differential (aileron > aileron, aileron > flap) (for ailerons and camber-changing flaps separately)

  • Spoiler > aileron (ailerons as landing aid)

  • Spoiler > aileron (flaps as landing aid / butterfly (crow))

  • Flap > aileron (aileron camber for thermal and speed tasks)

  • Elevator > aileron and elevator > flap, switchable (snap-flap)

  •  Elevator compensation mixer

  • for spoilers: spoiler > elevator (elevator compensation for airbrakes / spoilers)

  • for flaps: flap > elevator (elevator compensation for flaps, e.g. thermal, speed)

  • for throttle: throttle > elevator (elevator compensation for throttle)

  •   “Control FIX” function

Operating a momentary switch calls up a fixed value for the transmitter controls; aileron, elevator and rudder (e.g. launch offset for F3K SAL models or aerobatic flick-rolls etc).

  •  Electronic Y-lead

Any servo signal (channels 1 - 6) can also be passed to channel 7, and adjusted independently of the original signal (direction of rotation, centre, travels). Typical applications: models with two separate airbrake or elevator servos.

Functions for model helicopters

  • Five-point throttle / collective pitch curve

separately variable for each flight phase

  • Static tail rotor compensation (REVO mixer)

tail rotor compensation for collective pitch + / collective pitch -, separately variable

COCKPIT SX stub aerial

£15.99

 35 MHz
40/41 MHz

Flexible stub aerial provides an unobstructed view and optimum freedom of movement for the pilot. The aerial is very robust and durable. Forget all about kinked, worn and corroded telescopic aerials (and poor contact security)!

Note:

It is important to use only the stub aerial designed for your specific transmitter; it is matched accurately to the device and provides a strong signal and good radiation pattern. * Using a stub aerial of a different make invalidates the general approval for operating this equipment.

The technical design of a stub aerial produces different radiation characteristics, resulting in a reduction of effective range compared to a telescopic aerial. For this reason the standard telescopic version should always be used where operating conditions are less than perfect, or when you need long effective range. Please read the operating notes supplied with the stub aerial.

Specification:

Length:        approx. 360 mm

Weight:        approx. 60 g

COCKPIT SX aerial swivel joint

# 7 5129

£11.99
A practical accessory for the COCKPIT SX transmitter, which can be used with the stub aerial as well as the standard telescopic one. The joint is simply screwed to the transmitter instead of the aerial, and secured at any angle you wish by tightening the knurled nut. The aerial is then screwed onto the joint, and can be tilted to suit your personal preference.
