Scale model of a marine survey ship to 1:25 scale

The full-size Norderney is employed for survey work in the coastal regions of the North Sea, and her specific purpose is to check and correct sea charts. At the same time her crew check the position of sea markers (buoys etc.), and survey the sea bottom. Many marine features change in response to currents and tides, and to keep track of these the ship carries the "Möwe" sounding boat, which is capable of operating independently of the mother ship. The robbe Norderney survey ship has proved to be an outstandingly successful true-scale model, emulating all the running characteristics and most of the auxiliary working systems of the full-size vessel. With its dual rudders, powerful electric motors and twin-screw power system the model offers an excellent performance and fine manoeuvring capability.

The boat’s natural agility can be improved further by controlling the drive motors separately. The Norderney can be fitted with numerous auxiliary working systems, such as lowering and retrieving the sounding boat "Möwe" from the after deck, a working anchor winch, sound module, foghorn, radar and lighting, with the result that the operator never runs out of interesting options when running the boat. For the "Möwe" a separate RC system is required.
