Safety-Switch 6
Electronic safety switch harnesses for the receiving system. The switch harness is an important component in the airborne power supply chain, with significant safety implications. Conventional switch harnesses featuring a purely mechanical switch are prone to failure, and therefore constitute a safety risk. The danger is that the switch contacts may fail after a period of use due to ageing effects (vibration, wear or corrosion). At the same time, the requirements placed on switch harnesses are constantly rising due to the high power consumption of modern high-performance servos. Many conventional mechanical switches were never designed for such loads. MULTIPLEX SAFETY SWITCH switch harnesses are an excellent solution to this problem, and were designed with safety as top priority. The receiver battery (4 - 5 NiXX cells) is connected directly to the switch circuit board, while the connection to the receiver takes the form of a short, direct currentbearing cable without any mechanical switching element. The switching function itself is carried out by high-performance FETs, which are extremely reliable and vibration-resistant. Compared to mechanical switches, these high-performance FETs have very low internal resistance. In conjunction with high-quality goldcontact connectors and cables of large cross-section (for minimum losses), today’s powerful servos can finally unleash their full potential performance. A conventional mechanical slide switch is used as the ON / OFF switching element, as this makes it very simple to check its operational status (ON / OFF) at a glance. However, the slide switch only provides the ON / OFF switching signal, i.e. the load current does not flow through this switch at all. The slide switch can be mounted in any position on the model, and there is no drawback to extending the connecting lead by any amount if you so wish. If a fault should occur in the slide switch or its connecting lead, the electronic circuit reliably maintains the last active switched state (ON / OFF).
MULTIPLEX SAFETY SWITCH switch harnesses are deliberately of simple, robust construction. Only the absolutely essential components are used in the design, in order to keep the failure risk as low as possible.
The MULTIPLEX SAFETY SWITCH 6 represents a low-cost alternative to simple conventional switch harnesses.
